Elementary School Teacher

Imagine living in one square mile in the middle of the Alaskan tundra. Children run around without a care, ice skating, rolling down gravel piles, catching fish, and knowing everyone in the village of 500 people. Now shift to a tropical country in Asia. The busy city is full of golden pagodas, colorful markets, and traditional dress. Monks walk down the streets collecting alms, and the children are playing in monsoon rains. I have had the pleasure of teaching children from many walks of life. My heart and mind has been opened to many new ideas in this world full of wonders. I am a better person and teacher because of my experiences. I am a warm-hearted individual, with a passion for learning and sharing that love as I continue my journey to make the world a better place through education.

Philosophy

Knowledge is power, children are the future, and education is the key to a brighter tomorrow. Children are naturally curious about the world around them, so it is important to build on their curiosity to create the thinkers, creators, and problem solvers of tomorrow. To prepare students for the future, we need learning to be meaningful, engaging, and transferable. Inquiry and project based learning are excellent ways to help students see the purpose in what they are learning, enjoy what they are doing, set goals, and develop collaboration and communication skills. The goal is to continuously learn and improve, and with that, improve the lives of everyone around us. Education makes a difference.
